Empowering Your Inner Artist: Creative Outlets for Self-Expression

Expressing myself, creatively has been an outlet that has helped me throughout the majority of my life. I've always loved music and I can remember being a child and singing my favorite songs at the top of my lungs in my room and as I got older around the eighth grade, my teacher, Mrs. Andrews, may she rest in peace taught us about free writing, and it was during that time. When I fell in love with riding every time I went through something the first thing I would do is I would write just exactly how I felt and by writing it allowed me to get through a lot of things that I wasn't able to actually tell people, but by writing them down, I was still able to get the emotions out.

And then in 2009 when I was going through a really tough time my grandmother, Dorothy Anderson came and got me on April 25th and she took me to Joanns Fabrics and she bought me all the supplies to make a pillow and afterwards she took me to Dairy Queen and on the back of a map and on a napkin she taught me how to make the pillows. Those pillows at that time gave me a sense of purpose at that time I was so depressed and I didn't let anyone know what was going on but by the grace of God, he actually actually spoke to my grandmother and he told her that I was going through a tough time. But I am making those pillows they carried me through. They gave me purpose and they've also allowed me to give comfort to other people who have received them.

With that being said were there any moments in your life where you expressed your creativity through activities such as either making pillows or writing that helped you through a really tough time and if you stop doing those things, why did you would you consider picking those things up?
